Razor Clam Digging with my Dog
Watch along while my English Labrador Wyatt Earp and I go out on Long Beach to go razor clam digging and then I clean the clams and give some pointers, while Wyatt and Annie sleep in the next room. Then, by the magic of editing, I made Clam Linguini and it was definitely lab approved! In Washington State there is a designated razor clam season and a license for diggers age 15 and older. Generally the season runs from October to April. The WDFW will publish a tentative list of dates with the low tide times throughout the season. The final approval of the proposed dates are are communicated usually about a week beforehand and are dependent on marine toxin levels. If toxin levels are too high the season is delayed or closed. Regulations stipulate that you keep the first 15 (or what number the catch level is) you dig. Other rules apply. Check the WDFW website for all the regulations. Add razor clam digging to your list of fun activities and things to do in Long Beach.
